Advocating for Our People, Lands, & Future

For generations, our Alaska Native communities have sustained ways of living deeply rooted in the lands and waters of the Chugach region. Today, our responsibility is to ensure that our voices are heard in places like Washington, D.C. and Juneau where decisions are made. Through education, advocacy, partnerships, and policy engagement, Chugach advances shareholder priorities, protects our rights, and empowers our employees to secure opportunities for generations to come.

Our Responsibility & Our Voice

As an Alaska Native Corporation, Chugach stands at the intersection of culture, community, and commerce. Our advocacy reflects our responsibility to our shareholders, our lands, and future generations.

Strengthening our ability to make decisions about our lands, resources, and future.

Pursuing legislative and administrative solutions that resolve historic inequities and restore culturally and economically significant lands to our people.

Protecting the integrity of the Small Business Administration 8(a) program and ensuring equitable access to federal contracting opportunities.

Ensuring economic growth not only benefits our employees and our but also our shareholders, descendants, and the communities where we live and work.

Supporting our languages, traditions, and connection to the land.

Fostering economic opportunity that aligns with our values—growth without sacrificing environmental health, cultural integrity, or community well-being.

Policy Priorities

As an Alaska Native Corporation, Chugach stands at the intersection of culture, community, and commerce. Our advocacy is guided by values that have guided our communities for generations.

Land exchange

Restoring ANCSA’s promise through stewardship, access, and long-term prosperity.

Chugach is advocating for federal legislation to resolve decades-old land management conflicts following the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill, restoring culturally and economically significant lands and strengthening long-term regional self-sufficiency.

8(A) Program

Protecting a proven pathway for Alaska Native self-determination and shareholder prosperity

Chugach is committed to protecting Alaska Native Corporation eligibility within the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program, a critical tool for fulfilling ANCSA’s promise of self-determination and long-term economic opportunity. Through 8(a) success, Chugach grows profitable businesses and reinvests earnings into shareholder benefits and community priorities.

Governance & Oversight

Government Relations Committee

Chugach’s Government Relations Committee brings leaders together from across the Chugach family of companies to advance priorities shaped by shareholder and community needs. The Committee aligns our advocacy efforts through quarterly meetings, and builds long-term partnerships with decision-makers in Washington, D.C., and Juneau.

Political Action Committee

The Chugach Alaska Corporation Political Action Committee (CAC PAC) is led by Board members, employees, and shareholders who support policy priorities that strengthen Chugach’s long-term success. The PAC helps engage and educate elected leaders on issues that affect our economic growth and the cultural and community benefits funded through our work.
