Many Oars, One Journey

Chugach is more than a business. We are a people bound by culture, heritage, and purpose. Through our nonprofit entities and social enterprises, we extend the strength of our corporation into every corner of our community. These initiatives honor the vision of our Elders, protect the promises of ANCSA, and invest in the wellbeing of future generations.

Like the bidarka that has carried our people across the waters for centuries, these programs are vessels of resilience and unity. From cultural preservation and education to community wellness and land stewardship, Chugach’s social arms embody who we are and what we stand for. With many hands and many oars in the water, we row together toward a horizon of shared prosperity, inviting shareholders and descendants to join in the journey.

Chugach Heritage Foundation

Preserving Culture for Generations

Chugach is committed to honoring and preserving the cultural heritage of the region’s Alaska Native peoples through the Chugach Heritage Foundation, a nonprofit founded to support cultural preservation and education. With a $30 million endowment from Chugach, the Foundation has expanded its programs, strengthened the sharing of traditional knowledge, and ensured that the wisdom of Elders and Chugach traditions continue to educate and inspire future generations.

Chugach Tribal Services

Strengthening People & Community

Chugach Tribal Services (CTS) is a vital non-profit arm of Chugach Alaska Corporation dedicated to advancing the well-being, governance, and cultural integrity of the Chugach people. Rooted in the principles of tribal self-determination, CTS delivers high-impact programs that support wellness, workforce development and education, and community enrichment.

Village In the City

Culture, Connection, Belonging

One of CTS’s cornerstone initiatives is Village in the City (VIC), designed to bring Chugach values and community connection into urban environments where many of our shareholders live.
Through shared cultural spaces, wellness programming, and community events, VIC creates a sense of “village feeling” in the heart of the city. It helps our people stay grounded in identity while building new roots, ensuring that Chugach culture thrives no matter the distance from our ancestral homelands.

Chugach Museum

A Living Story, Shared Place

The Chugach Museum will celebrate Chugach’s rich generational history and living traditions. Designed as both a gathering place and cultural hub, the museum will showcase the resilience and creativity of the Chugach people while offering space for teaching, learning, and community connection. The museum will be located in the heart of Midtown Anchorage alongside Chugach’s Village in the City campus.

Regional Partners

Chugach partners with state, tribal, regional, village, and nonprofit entities that work together to serve and represent Chugach’s 3,000 shareholders and thousands of descendants.

In addition to Chugach-owned nonprofits, the corporation partners with a number of nonprofits within the Chugach region to provide social, cultural and educational services, healthcare, resource management, and housing to the Chugach people.

Manage land and provide social, cultural, and economic benefits to their shareholders, descendants, and tribal members.
