Our Commitment

Chugach is building long-term value the Alaska Native way: balanced management of our lands and waters, investing in our communities, caring for our people, and upholding strong, transparent governance. As an Alaska Native corporation, our success is measured in financial results and in the well-being of our shareholders, employees, customers, and the places we call home.

Our commitment is reflected across four pillars of responsibility:

Employee Engagement

A culture of purpose, opportunity, and engagement that empowers employees and inspires workforce well-being.

Community Impact

Shareholder opportunity and community investments that strengthen our people and culture.

Environmental Stewardship

Responsible land and resource management, balanced
development, and rigorous safety standards.

Governance & Ethics

Ethical leadership, reliable controls, and accountability that protect our shareholders and guide sound decisions.

Employee Engagement

People are our greatest asset. We create pathways to give back to the communities where we live and work:

Our year-round employee giving program empowers staff to support local causes and organizations, amplifying community impact and fostering a culture of generosity.

Through our culture and employee engagement initiatives, we empower our employees to make a difference in the communities in which they reside.

Employees are empowered to excel through training and development, and succession planning.

Creating pathways for shareholders and descendants through internships, apprenticeships, and preference in hiring.

Community Impact

We invest in the future of our communities and honor our heritage through:

  • Investments that strengthen the well-being of our people and future generations.
  • Funding scholarships, including academic (associate, bachelor’s, graduate, and doctorates), vocational, and job-training scholarships
  • Targeted giving and volunteerism aligned with Chugach values, supporting education, culture camps, and artifact repatriation.

Environmental Stewardship

We manage and develop our ANCSA lands with conservation in mind, balancing access, cultural use, subsistence, and economic opportunity. Our approach includes:

Long-range planning that honors traditional uses and supports responsible development to generate sustainable economic opportunity.

Industry-leading practices that prevent incidents and protect people, communities, and the environment.

Critical support for oil spill readiness and infrastructure resilience through contracts on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and throughout the Chugach region.

Participation in California’s cap-and-trade program generates non-extractive income while preserving natural and cultural resources. Chugach has sold carbon offsets since 2020 that directly support shareholder dividends, jobs, and cultural programs.

Governance & Ethics

We are committed to ethical leadership, reliable controls, and accountability:

Clear roles for management and committees, with Board-led oversight of strategy, audit, and risk.
A living Code of Conduct, mandatory ethics training, and confidential reporting channels.
Strong financial controls and independent audits across Chugach’s family of companies.
Training, controls, and incident response to protect our people and partners.
Connecting performance to shareholder value and community outcomes.
Partnering with policymakers to advance tribal relations and priorities.
