Established under the Alaska Native Claim Settlement Act (ANCSA) in 1972, the sole purpose of the Chugach Alaska Corporation is to serve the needs of Alaska Native people. Opportunities are provided to more than 2,500 Eskimo, Aleut, and Indian people throughout the Chugach region.
Under ANCSA, the government gave 40 million acres of land and over $950 million to native owned companies.
