Exxon Valdez Oil Spill (EVOS) Trust
The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council (EVOSTC) recently rejected a motion to support the “New Vision for EVOS: A Roadmap to Reshape the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill” proposal submitted by the EVOS Think Tank of Citizens, which would have long-term benefits for the spill-affected communities in the Chugach region. Additionally, the EVOSTC proposed four resolutions for a 60-day public comment period that only serve to advance the council’s misguided agenda to “spend down” the remaining EVOS funding with minimal oversight, transparency and public participation.
